🇬🇧It's a very funny novel, even though the theme is suicide. The adventures of the Finnish Anonymous Deadee are told with an irony (and self-irony about Finn's characteristics and habits) that makes us smile throughout the book. But it also makes us think: the problems that afflict us sometimes seem to be crushing us, while changing our point of view would be enough to see them shrink. One of the jokes I liked most: "In two months he learned to speak Portuguese, which is not surprising since the

As someone who's struggled with suicidal thoughts, I found this oddly uplifting and at times even funny. I found the irony used by Paasilinna quite poignant, it really did strike a chord with me. Death isn't that serious and neither is this book, I'd reccomend it to anyone who's comfortable with the discussion around suicide and even to those who aren't. Push yourself, what's the worst thing that could happen?

lt is funny if you are into black type of humour. l personally like black humour so in that way it was amusing. lt has also lots of metaphors that if you don't recognize it is not so important cause you can always enjoy story but they are really cool if you spot them (for that you should probably have some knowledge of Finnish people and culture cause it is more like "inside thing"). lt is written in very simple language which is more a style and statement of author in my opinion than anything

Norwegian audiobook.Title translation: The Charming Mass SuicideThis book was hilarious and absolutely charming. It was given to me by a friend who told me it was a particular type of humor that many people didn't get, but she thought I could appreciate it. When I started reading it I thought 'No way, this would be hilarious to everyone!' I then proceeded to share some funny excerpts with people and received reactions ranging from blank stares to straight out shaming me for my callousness. I

This book is not about death, it is about life. At times beautifully and often humorously written, with witty twists and a narrative that kept me reading on with great ease. It deals with the bigger questions without being moralistic. The only thing that bothered me at times was the repetitivity of certain jokes. Other than that, a wonderful and very lively little gem.

I did not exactly liked this book. It was really confused, not following a real plot but just giving space to worthless scenes in which one or more characters are involved, giving nothing to the whole narration. All the characters (many!) were just cited slightly, none of them can be pictured in the mind of the reader. The difficulty in reading the names both of the characters and the places the group travels along doesn't really help. Furthermore, sometimes the places are cited almost as a

A charming, funny and peculiar story. I haven't read something quite like it. The book has a funny undertone which is not overbearing. At the same time I think the writer could have done more with the characters. Also the way it was written resulted in knowing I was reading a translated book. I'm sure I missed out on the funny twists and turns because of that.
