Katy Regnery has created something wonderful with The Vixen and the Vet. With what is a romance novel, she has brought front and center a dark side of the human psyche the ability of the government, and the people, to ignore the real costs to the soldiers who often give not only their lives, but their bodies, minds and souls to the machines of war.In this story inspired by the classic The Beauty and the Beast, the characters face their inner beasts and overcome them to see the beauty of being3.5 stars!This was such a sweet book! Maybe a little too sweet for me, but overall I did enjoy it. I liked the premise a desperate journalist interviewing the town hermit, a reclusive and disfigured war veteran, as a last resort to save her careerand they fall in love with each other in the process. The few flashback scenes where the hero recounts his experiences in war brought tears to my eyes, and the romance itself was truly beautiful. I had originally planned on giving this book at least a

5++++ Powerful, Touching and Superlative Stars!!!I imagine the last thing an author wants to hear from a reader who is writing a review on one of their books is that their story has left them speechless. But that is exactly what I felt after having reached the final page of The Vixen and the Vet. This is one of the most moving stories I have read in quite some time and such an extraordinary tale of two souls on a journey to the rediscovery of their lives through love and learning to trust again.
