Relation During Books Red Harvest (Star Wars Legends Universe)
The era of the Old Republic is a dark and dangerous time, as Jedi Knights valiantly battle the Sith Lords and their ruthless armies. But the Sith have disturbing plans—and none more so than the fulfillment of Darth Scabrous’s fanatical dream, which is about to become nightmarish reality.Unlike those other Jedi sidelined to the Agricultural Corps—young Jedi whose abilities have not proved up to snuff—Hestizo Trace possesses one extraordinary Force talent: a gift with plants. Suddenly her quiet existence among greenhouse and garden specimens is violently destroyed by the arrival of an emissary from Darth Scabrous. For the rare black orchid that she has nurtured and bonded with is the final ingredient in an ancient Sith formula that promises to grant Darth Scabrous his greatest desire.
But at the heart of the formula is a never-before-seen virus that’s worse than fatal—it doesn’t just kill, it transforms. Now the rotting, ravenous dead are rising, driven by a bloodthirsty hunger for all things living—and commanded by a Sith Master with an insatiable lust for power and the ultimate prize: immortality . . . no matter the cost.

I'm not a fan of the zombie genre whatsoever...and yet, here is a "Star Wars" story that is simply a nightmarish, balls-to-the-wall action horror thriller that doesn't pause for breath...and makes for compelling, addictive reading. Just a tale of violence, death and Sith alchemy gone horribly wrong...told with a great deal of skill. The BasicsFormat: Audiobook Why did I read it: It was on the list of Star Wars books I havent read.Length: Fairly shortAge Group: teen and olderRatingsAll out of tenCover Art: 5Plot: 6Setting: 7Characters: 7World Building: 7Flow: 6Writing: 7Ending: 7Total: 6My ThoughtsPositives: It was interesting to see a Jedi that was a specialist in communicating with plants instead of being a bad ass with a light saber. It was also interesting to get an inside look at what a sigh training academy is like.
SPOILERS AHEADPlease note this book is Old Republic and IS NOT CANON. Meaning its not considered part of the official story of the Star Wars universe; to make it easy consider it a spinoff.Summary:The story begins at a Sith academy thats stuck in the middle of a snow covered planet and far away from anything. What a great setup for a horror story! We are introduced to Lussk the badass apprentice of Sith Lord Darth Scabrous. Lussk is the top student and challenges a student named Nicktar to

Read this and more reviews on my blog.A Zombie-Horror Star Wars book? Now i have read everything!Red Harvest is set in 3645BBY (before the destruction of the First Death Star). Red Harvest is meant to explain how to virus in Death Troopers came to be. Personally i found it a tad weird the premises of it, but at the same time it made complete sense. By having Darth Scabrous wanting to become immortal, much like Emperor Palpatine, i found it extremely easy to understand the Sith thinking.Schreiber
The full article of this review is available at this link:http://bookunderthesun.blogspot.sg/20...A long long time ago, there was a ship filled with the living dead in a galaxy far far away. The captivating story of a ship full of Imperial dead shambling around was novel in the sense that the popular sci-fi franchise never tried to accommodate horror elements into it. At least never did it seriously. That was Joe Schreiber's Death Troopers (which was also another book shared in my previous
Joe Schreiber is perhaps one of the most divisive writers in the Star Wars franchise. I enjoyed Death Troopers as a fun zombie adventure, something a little different in the Galaxy Far Far Away that utilized common horror tropes very effectively, but I was more than a little trepidatious about starting Red Harvest, Schreibers second spooky Star Wars offering. See, whenever this book seems to come up in Star Wars conversation, its often derided as the worst installment in the Expanded Universe,
Star Wars Legends Project #26 Background: Red Harvest was published in December of 2010. It was written by Joe Schreiber. Red Harvest is a distant prequel to Schreiber's previous Death Troopers. He is also the author of the forthcoming Maul: Lockdown, and a number of non-Star Wars horror novels. The book takes place in the midst of the Cold War between the Republic and the Sith Empire, 3,645 years before the Battle of Yavin, 8 years after the Treaty of Coruscant established a fragile peace
