Description In Favor Of Books Sammy Keyes and the Showdown in Sin City (Sammy Keyes #16)
"The most winning junior detective ever in teen lit. (Take that, Nancy Drew!)" —Midwest Children's Book ReviewIn this pivotal book in the Sammy Keyes series, Sammy tackles the persistent mysteries of her own life. Mysteries like: Who is her father? And why has her mother kept it such a secret? How long can she manage to hide out in Grams' seniors-only building before someone catches on? Is her mother really planning to marry her boyfriend's father? (Ew.) And why, why is Heather Acosta so nasty?
During one crazy weekend in Las Vegas, with the help of an entire army of Elvis impersonators, Sammy finally gets some answers. But of course knowledge comes at a price—and solving the mysteries of her own life will cost Sammy more than she ever meant to pay. . . .
The Sammy Keyes mysteries are fast-paced, funny, thoroughly modern, and true whodunits. Each mystery is exciting and dramatic, but it's the drama in Sammy's personal life that keeps readers coming back to see what happens next with her love interest Casey, her soap-star mother, and her mysterious father.

Yes, I am still reading books that can be found in the children's section of the library as a senior in college. But it is a testament to the wonderful characters Van Draanen has created that I can't help myself from running to the library when I find out there's a book in this series I've been reading since the 6th grade that I haven't read yet. I love Sammy's character, and I loved how much she "discovered herself" in this installment. She not only found out the long-awaited identity of hera solid 3.5.this used to be one of my favorite book series', and i picked up this + the last book because i wanted to find out what happened to sammy and how her life "wraps up". probably a mistake, because i was not so invested in her life anymore after being apart for so long, it would have made more sense to get back in with a mystery (which i'm a sucker for). also didn't help that the book took place far away from home, and heavily featured non-main protaganists! the beginning/middle
Sammy Keyes and the Showdown in Sin City is the sixteenth book of a eighteen book series. I really enjoyed reading this part of Sammys life! This book is relatable to me because it takes place in Las Vegas! Over the summer I went to Vegas so I really could picture what was going on in the book! Sammy Keyes and the Showdown in Sin City is a mystery fiction book. This is a genre that I haven't explored to much. Usually I tend to stick with humor fiction so this book was very refreshing. Sammy
Light spoilers ahead.I've spent 7 (8?) years with this book series. I have long since past the target age group for this series, but I vowed years ago that I would see it through to the end.The end is near. This is book 16 in an 18 book series.I will save my weepy, nostalgic, wordy, loooooooonnnnnnnnngggggggggggg review for when I finally reach the end of those final pages.Until then, know that THIS book is the one we've all been waiting for.The gamechanger. It is the one where all the series'
I liked the revelations about Sammy's mother that helped me to better understand Sammy's situation in earlier books, and the revelation about her father's identity. I've only read one of the earlier books, and find Sammy's spunky, adventuresome, and bold character is refreshing. Sammy's insights into her own behavior in this book, in contrast to her tendency to speak and act without thinking many times, make this story a humorous and intriguing read. Re-read or review it in your mind and you'll
I'm getting closer to finishing this series and I'm actually really sad about that! I have loved re-reading my old favorites and continuing on with the ones I never got to as a teenager. This is one of the best middle-grade series out there, so if you have children of that age, I highly recommend Sammy Keyes. These books are hilarious, heart-warming, enthralling, and only get better as they go.
This is the first book I have read from the Sammy Keyes series. Sammy is thirteen in this book. I would recommend it to kids in 5th grade through 8th grade. I consider it to be realistic fiction with some humor and a mystery to solve. It is about friendships and family relationships and touches on real-life issues like step-family dynamics, a gambling addiction, and bullying, but with a light touch. Sammy is a strong female protagonist who tackles her own problems, which makes this a good book
